10 Reels ideas for salons, barbershops and spas
The best salon videos aren't trends. They're short, useful posts that make someone book: a time that just opened up, a look for the season, a gift for someone else. Here are ten ideas, each with the words to put on screen. Swap in your own times, prices and names, and post the same video on Reels, TikTok and Shorts.
1. Openings today
Nothing books a chair faster than a time that's free today. Post it the moment you know.
- Two openings today
- 2:00 and 4:30
- Book online or call
2. The look of the season
Seasonal color, holiday nails, summer cuts: the season gives people a reason to change things up.
- Fall color is here
- Copper, chestnut, cinnamon
- Book a color consult
3. A new service
Say what it is, how long it takes and what it costs. New services are easier to sell when nothing is a mystery.
- New: scalp facials
- 45 minutes, $65
- Book this week
4. Gift cards
Gift cards sell themselves before the holidays, Valentine's Day and Mother's Day, if people know you have them.
- Give a blowout
- Gift cards, any amount
- In the salon or online
5. Meet the team
People book people. A short introduction to a stylist, a barber or a therapist builds trust, especially for new clients. Ask your team before you post them.
- Meet Ana
- Color specialist
- Tuesdays to Saturdays
6. Before and after
The classic, and still the most convincing, as long as your client has said yes to being posted. Get permission every time, ideally in writing.
- Before
- After
- Balayage by Ana
7. The price list
Clear prices take away the main reason people don't book: not knowing what it costs.
- Men's cut $35
- Skin fade $40
- Beard trim $15
8. Book early for the busy season
Prom, weddings, the holidays: remind people early, while there's still time.
- Prom is May 16
- Updos book up fast
- Reserve your time now
9. A product spotlight
If you sell products, a back-in-stock post brings people in, and they often book while they're there.
- Back in stock
- The curl cream you asked for
- Ask at the front desk
10. A real review, word for word
A real client's words are worth more than anything you could write. Use them exactly as they were posted, with the reviewer's name as it appears. Never make one up, and never tidy one into something it didn't say.
- "[Their words, exactly as posted]"
- [First name], on Google
- Book your visit
Make them easy to watch
- Get close. Hands, tools, texture, the shine of fresh color. Close-ups read better on a phone than the whole room.
- Use daylight. A window beats overhead lights for color that looks true.
- Shoot vertically. That's how almost everyone will watch.
- Say how to book. Online, by phone or walk-ins: put it on screen.
- Post openings the same day, and keep the evergreen posts (prices, the team, gift cards) in a rotation.
How often to post
Post openings whenever they happen, the same day. For everything else, two or three posts a week is plenty, and a steady rhythm beats a burst followed by silence. Batch them: take photos one morning a month and make the month's videos in one sitting.
